A large rally in Beijing on Tuesday attended by tens of thousands of protesters and thousands of police officers, was one of the largest political demonstrations in over a year. It was attended by the largest number of leaders in all of China since April 4th.

On one occasion during the rally, Premier Wen Jiabao—who is the first man to be elected to the country’s highest office since 1989—told the crowd: “We must face the world today with caution, never to play games with the fate of the Chinese people.”

Many in the Chinese labor and urban population, among other factors, are angry with the Dongfeng Group, which holds a 60 percent stake in the company, for its construction of the $500 million Tianjin-Gangzhou rail line. The Dongfeng G김해출장샵roup does not own land in China. Its subsidiaries and divisions also operate railways and ports in other parts of China.

There has long been resentment toward construction of such a project by the Dongfeng Group because the company—once the larges
