TASMANIA FLOODS GOVERNMENT INQUIRY INTO EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Tasmania floods government inquiry into emergency management

The inquiry report notes: “At the time it commenced the department had received no advice that floodwaters at Calea might be greater than what the emergency management expert recommended”.

The floo구미출장샵d risk assessment also found that “the probability of significant flood damage or loss of life in Calea was very high, but the total recovery was not sufficient for the circumstances” which had arisen.

Dr Gartland said his review “was not an academic exercise”.

The government’s own expert and expert report have both recommended further flood risk assessment before making major development decisions.

The report by David Gartland and Dr George Stewart says that for the first phase of the Calea project, “a minimum of five-and-a-half years is needed to assess the risk of flooding and to assess the risk to lives and property in the event of a flood event.”

The government has already made a decis예스카지노ion that Calea is not suitable for mining but that the government has not yet decided on whether or not to change the outcome of the flood risk assessment.

“I don’t think we will be putting that in place until we have made sure that there is a 블랙 잭basis to change the outcome,” Dr Gartland said.
